We went for Violet's post-op appointment at Arkansas Children's Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. We heard the news we had hoped and prayed for - her palate is healing well! It will be another few weeks until the stitches are totally dissolved, so we have to be somewhat careful with her food (no chips, crunchy stuff, forks, straws, etc.). We also have to continue to use the arm restraints at night. It was great to hear that everything was healing well and that we could resume a more normal diet for Violet. We also learned that her next surgery will be in about 8 months (for her nose and a little bit for her lip) and that we can go ahead and start speech therapy. She will be seen again at ACH in 6 months for a speech/hearing evaluation, and her next surgery will be scheduled at that point.
Here is Violet in the waiting room at the ENT clinic.

Using her sweet smile to convince one of the "art cart" volunteers to read her a book.

In the exam room waiting for the surgeon - she loves to sit on the footrest of exam chairs - she does this at every doctor's visit.

Outside of the hospital after her appointment. It was a beautiful day for some good news.

Outside of On The Border in Little Rock. We were all very happy to EAT!
